Advanced oxidation processes for the removal of natural organic matter from raw water

Natural Organic Matter (NOM) can impart an undesirable taste, colour, and odour to drinking water, and cause the fouling of ion-exchange resins and various pressure driven membranes. Furthermore, NOM can react with chlorine in water disinfection processes to produce a variety of undesirable disinfection by-products.

This project seeks to improve the understanding of titanium dioxide remediation of NOM from raw water. Engineered design of a low cost magnetic photocatalyst for fast and low energy post treatment separation of the nanoparticle photocatalyst was also demonstrated.
