Development of nanomaterials for advanced antimicrobial applications

This project aims to create smart nanomaterials with controlled and extra-ordinary antimicrobial activities through facile manipulation of the physical and chemical properties.

Major achievements

- Nano-silver with tunable antimicrobial activities has been developed through manipulation of its oxidation state.
- The results have been published in Small and been highlighted in Nature Nanotechnology.

Future plans and directions

Development of a novel technique to achieve the controlled release of ions from antimicrobial nanomaterials.
