Synthesis of visible light active surfaces

Nitrogen doped titanium dioxide coating was applied to Dye Sensitised Solar Cells (DSSC). Nitrogen modification changes the band gap of the titanium dioxide and enables it to utilise more of the visible spectrum, thereby increasing the efficiency of the DSSC.

Major achievements

The electronic structure of the nitrogen-modified TiO2 photocatalysts was studied using photocurrent and surface photovoltage techniques.

Future plans and directions

The project has reached its final phase and a journal manuscript is in preparation for publication.
