Indoor air purification over non-precious metal nanocatalysts

This project seeks to understand the elevated catalytic activity displayed by copper supported on ceria for the gas phase oxidation of acetaldehyde, when compared with other metal oxide materials.

Major achievements

Identification of CeO2 as the best support for the catalytic oxidation of acetaldehyde in the gas phase. Thorough physicochemical characterisation of Cu/CeO2 catalyst, including detailed temperature programmed reduction techniques, has been completed

Future plans and directions

To finalise and compile characterisation results with the intention of publication.
