Metal oxide support morphology effects on the water-gas-shift reaction

Platinum deposited on titanium dioxide has demonstrated the highest catalytic activity, compared with other metal oxide supports, for the low temperature Water-Gas-Shift (LT-WGS) reaction (CO + H2O → H2 + CO2). This project studies the influence of TiO2 morphology (e.g., nanoparticles versus nanorods) on its role as a support for Pt in the LT-WGS reaction.
Major achievements
TiO2 nanorod arrays have been fabricated using hydrothermal methods.

Future plans and directions

We plan to load Pt on the nanorods and assess their activity/selectivity in the LT-WGS reaction and to compare findings with commercial TiO2 supports.
